Core Beliefs
We are a group of people who believe that Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord. We are convinced that life can’tbe lived without His love, forgiveness, and presence. Our purpose as a church can be summed up in two simple but profound words: Show Jesus.
We desire to show Jesus our love for Him through worship and praise individually and as a church. We want to show Jesus to ourselves through personal study and prayer. We work to show Jesus to each other in friendship and Christian community. We endeavor to show Jesus to people who do not yet know Him.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the trustworthy revelation of His will. It is true, authoritative, and fully sufficient to teach us who God is, what He has done through Jesus Christ, and how we are to live as His people. Because of this, we look to Scripture as our final guide in faith, worship, and daily life.
The Gospel
At the center of what we believe is the gospel, the good news that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised from the dead. His death, burial, and resurrection are the foundation of our hope and the cornerstone of salvation. Through Him, God offers forgiveness, new life, and eternal hope.
Salvation
As the Bible says, we believe salvation is found in Jesus Christ, and that baptism is the obedient response of faith by which a believer takes part in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism is not a tradition or symbol, but the God-given way we respond to the Gospel in faith and begin a new life in Christ.
Come Join Us!
The LICOC is a unique work the Lord has created here in the northeast. Among the things that make us unique is the multiracial and multigenerational membership we’ve had since the beginning. We have always represented African American, Hispanic, and Caucasian races in our membership, and through our college ministry initiative we have added Asian, African, Indian, and Middle Eastern representation. Coming to the LICOC gives you a multinational experience, which is also reflected in our leadership.
