How it all started...
The church has its first meeting in Kent Field’s living room in Bayshore, NY.
1979


The First Building
The church begins meeting at the "Old YMCA" in Bayshore, the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building on Main Street.
1981
An "Upgrade"
The church moves to the New YMCA building in Bayshore. Membership is about 75.
1989


A Big Move
The church moves to the Central Islip Chapel. Membership is around 300.
1996
The Spanish Ministry Begins
The Spanish ministry establishes its first full service en español.
2002


A Change of Scenery
The church moves to Lindenhurst, NY
2017
Land Purchased
5 acres of land bought in Hauppauge, NY to build a building on the land.
2019


Project Gateway Begins
New eldership and deaconship established. Clearing and grading of land finished. Project Gateway is established.
2023
Our Own Building!
After 45 years, the Long Island Church of Christ finally has a permanent address.
2025


Haitian Ministry Joins Us
Our sister congregation of Haitian members officially merges into the Long Island Church of Christ.

Where We Are Headed
With services now in English, American Sign Language, Spanish, and French, and membership approaching 450 people, the Long Island Church of Christ is shining for Jesus brighter than ever before and is thoroughly equipped to bless the community of central Long Island.
